Hope Logitech soon makes the real deal with usb c

level 2

Why would you want to take up a high speed USB port with a mouse or keyboard? Seems like most people have one or two maybe USB C ports and more 2 ports.

level 1

Saw this already too, its amazing!

level 1

I mean it'd be cool but my logitech stream cam takes my only c port. So kinda bummer here

level 1

Are there computers with USB c port?

level 2

Yes new ones have USB C ports. Mine has one

level 2

I have usb c on both my laptop, phone and desktop i think its quite common now 😊

level 2

I think most recent computers have a c port. Most newer motherboards have USB c and some GPUs have USB c. Not to mention the fact that practically all laptops now have USB c

level 2

My three year old laptop has USB C and only USB C. It doesn't even have a charger port, it charges over any of the USB C ports.

level 2

We're in a transitional phase. Newer devices will have both, and within 5 years, older ones will be phased out.

level 1

Just wish there was a better way to finish it than that green rubber stuff he used. Maybe 3d printing?? Loved the video tho

level 2

Looking at eBay there are some breakout boards that do have a housing. I can only find ones that are designed for a cable, but you could probably leave the back off and cover it up with something else if you wanted.

level 1

I liked this video but I don't understand why he wouldn't just move the resistor over that was already there with the pads beside it to switch. Some flux and a $30 hot Air station and it would have taken 5min not even.

level 2

That adds $30 to the cost if you don't already have one.

If you do have one, by all means, save yourself the time and trouble, but not everyone can go that route. This way it shows off a way everyone can do it with minimal expense.

level 1

It would be nice if Logitech could enable the Bluetooth connections so that they work well while other Bluetooth Communication Devices are connected.. like headsets and audio.. Then we wouldn't need to have a separate connection for Mouse/Keyboard i/o...

level 2

Bluetooth is a horribly constructed standard, allowing developers levels of freedom which results into inoperability and drivers having to handle cases to work around other badly behaving devices in the wild. Couple that with the standard was not intended to be used with mice and now all of the RF congestion which Bluetooth does a so-so job of mitigating and you are not likely to consistently see a solid Bluetooth mouse solution from anyone.
